Roman Kouder, a young Parisian DJ and producer who creates romantic melodies which are fed with electro chill out at 90 BPM and distant vibes of a seminal hip hop that rocked his childhood... However, Roman does not waste time describing his music, he prefers to shape it compulsively in the solitude of the undue hours spent in front of his keyboards. The DNA of his compositions: he takes in these instants of life stolen every day, these moments of vertigo where we navigate between conscious and unconscious, between ecstasy and return to reality, between deep night and early morning. Alchemist of the sound, he preserves the substance for his compositions, atmospheric and sweet as possible.
Influenced by alternative urban music (Mos Def, Rakim, J.Dilla...), East Coast rap (Gang Starr, Nas, Tribe called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan...) and underground hip hop (via the famous Stones Throw Records), Roman has kept the essence of these influences in his rhythmic approach. He paints soundscapes to provoke a vibration, to create an instrumental storytelling that lets everyone free to tell their own story, to make their own film by listening to it...
But it is also a total experience made above all to groove. For far from sticking to his only first influences, the young Frenchie is as well influenced by Ed Banger Records, as well as Disclosure and Majid Jordan, which he admires the ability to open new horizons by combining their electro vibes to pop voices. However, artists he claims the most, there are undoubtedly new players in the Australian electro scene, the first rank of which the future classic label and groups like Flight Facilities, Flume or Empire of the Sun with whom he has already played.
If he extends to each new piece his musical palette, from Nu Disco debut to today's Downtempo, it's not so much that Roman does not know on which foot to groove. As an obsessive collector of good vibes, he works surgically on his compositions to draw each time a new sound experience. Evolving through artistic encounters, he multiplies collaborations: his first group Crayon, Patawawa (on the Back to life EP), Audiobot (on “1994”), Regards Coupables (on “Mystery”) or the excellent Josh Tobias (on
“LOST”, his last single) ... The common denominator? Groove again and again. And this ethereal vein that would almost make each of his pieces the soundtrack of an indie and sexy film, focused on an unreal female figure...
Since his first single “Nightlight” in 2013 (a test shot that turned to be the soundtrack of a radio ad then soundtrack of a documentary), Roman does not hesitate to infuse his personality in his compositions. He already released his new single “LOST” with Universal Music France, which was also remixed by famous Kraak & Smaak band and French newcomer Boris Way. His new single, also featured with Josh Tobias vocal, will be released on mid March.
